LEMPI M. MAKI's Obituary
LEMPI M. MAKI, 91, of Baraga, MI. passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Bayside Village, L’Anse. She had been a resident there for several years. Lempi was born in South Range, MI. on February 18, 1920 the daughter of the late William and Kaisa (Elehva) Ylitalo. She attended school at Jeffers in Painesdale and graduated from Baraga High School in 1937. Lempi married Fabian Maki in Chassell on August 17, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1982. She was a member of Pelkie Laestadian Lutheran Church. Lempi was a dedicated homemaker and loved her family very much, and enjoyed her church family, flowers, and reading.
Mrs. Maki is survived by her children Paul (JoAnn) Maki of Mishicot, WI., Kathryn (John) Tepsa of Minocqua, WI., Kristine Hietala of Chassell and Mary Maki and special friend Lonnie of Glenwood, CO., grandchildren Erick, Don, Mitchell, Jolene, Cheryl, Todd, Tina, Darren, Karen, Hiedi, Sarah, and Tonya, great grandchildren Olivia, Chaz, Brice, Abby, Ali, Alisha, Taylor, Gage, Mya, Ben, Anna, Fabian, Kylee, Britney, Dallas, Hunter, Marli, Sydni, Carson, Devin, Megan, and Dylan. She was preceded in death by her son John and her sister Fannie.
Funeral services for Mrs. Maki were held at 12 pm Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel with Pastor James Franti officiating. Interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of the service. Following the service, the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral home.
