My folks, Reino and Sylvia, owned the farm across the road from Turunen's. Bob was always a good guy to talk with. Rest in peace, dear neighbor.
Uncle Bob was a warm and wonderful man. I have so many memories of him sharing stories about the history of the UP and about his knowledge and appreciation of nature and trees. He was so gentle in his presence and would always have the Polaroid camera to take pictures of us as we celebrated Christmas together. One year, I even went to the farm and cut down a Christmas tree and proudly drove it back home to Birmingham, only to have most of the needles off of it from the long drive. Rest in Peace, Uncle Bob. So sorry to hear about Bob, I have many great memories of my Dad & Bob picking me up at school on friday afternoon & we would drive to the up for the weekend. Bob will be missed!
