Although I never got to know my cousin Ron very well, I do have pleasant memories of getting together with all the cousins on Sundays when most of the Tikkanens living locally would gather at our grandparents' farm. When it was potato-picking time, Ron was one of the "bigger boys", along with cousin Ken, who could lift the 50 pound bags of potatoes onto the pickup truck driven by Uncle Paul. I envied the fact that they could ride nonchalantly on the tailgate, while the rest of us younger kids were grubbing in the dirt for the spuds. Ron and Ken were both quiet, humorous, and always looked out for the rest of us.
I'm glad that I've had the chance to get to know Ron's daughters, Bonnie and Renee, at least a little through our mutual involvement in music. I know that your family has had to endure more than its share of loss, and my condolences go out to all of you during this time. Also, my thoughts are with my cousins Warren, Anita, and Norman on the loss of your big brother.
