Ronald P Tikkanen's Obituary
Ronald P. Tikkanen, age 74, of Keweenaw Bay passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse. He was born on January 29, 1940 the son of the late Peter and Elsie (Paulson) Tikkanen. Ron graduated from L’Anse High School in 1957. He married Margaret Maki in 1960 and she passed away in 1986. He married Nancy Hadden and she also preceded him in death.
Ron was a self-employed carpenter by trade and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He was a former treasurer for the union local. He enjoyed playing pool and fishing.
Mr. Tikkanen is survived by his loving children David (Shari)Tikkanen of Baraga, John (Anne) Tikkanen of Keweenaw Bay, Karen (Jack) Davin of Pittsburg, PA, Bonny Cotter (Scott Conner) of L’Anse, Joanne (George) Danielson of Keweenaw Bay and Renee (Cliff) Picotte of Ontonagon, MI, 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, brothers Warren (Helen) Tikkanen of L’Anse, Norman (Gail) Tikkanen of L’Anse and sister Anita (John) Koski of Chassell. He was preceded in death by sons Mark and Bruce and one brother.
Funeral services for Mr. Tikkanen were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Greg Mileski officiating. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Keweenaw Bay Fire Hall immediately following the funeral service. Spring interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
