ROSE MARY SHULSTAD's Obituary
ROSEMARY SHULSTAD, 93, of Baraga passed away suddenly Thursday, December 13, 2007 at home. She was born in Baraga, MI. on May 22, 1914 the daughter of the late Peter A. and Rosalie (Robillard) Magnant. She graduated from Baraga High School in 1931. RoseMary married Herbert Shulstad at the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, MI. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was employed by the public school system as a secretary until her retirement. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga, Lady Foresters, Order of St. Francis, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and a former Altar Society member. RoseMary enjoyed playing cards, going to Bingo, sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and reading. She was an avid sports fan, particularly basketball and the Pistons. She was also active in church activities.
Mrs. Shulstad is survived by her loving daughters, Pauline (Al) Goodreau of Baraga and Kathleen (Robert) Acton of Howell, MI., 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and sister, Jeanne Lambert of Crandon, WI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosalie Waara, brothers, Peter, Edward, and John, and sisters, Cecilia, Pauline, and Kathleen.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2007 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga with Father George Maki, celebrant and Father Thomas Schmied, con-celebrant. Interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday, December 16, 2007 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse.
