SAMMY J. WOLFE's Obituary
SAMMY J. “SAM” WOLFE, 59, of Pelkie, passed away at his residence Sunday, March 29, 2009 following a short illness. He was born in Minneapolis, MN. on August 12, 1949 son of Chester and Bertha (Mutkala) Wolfe. Sam graduated from Baraga High School in 1967. He attended Northern Michigan University for 2 years and then joined the U.S. Air Force working as a service historian. Following his discharge from the Air Force he attended college at Crayton College receiving his Masters in International Relations. Sam worked the family farm raising beef cattle. He enjoyed reading, movies, music, downhill sking and hunting.
Mr. Wolfe is survived by his loving sons, Greyson and Jonas Wolfe, of Pelkie, and his mother, Bertha McClung of Pelkie. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Wolfe and step-father Samuel McClung in 2009.
A memorial service for Mr. Wolfe was held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel with Pastor Jesse Aho. The family greeted friends at the funeral chapel on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the service the family invited friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering room, located at the funeral home.
