Chris Ford
Everett and family--
I had the great pleaure of getting to know Shirley through all of her dedicated service to the Sands Post and her work with the Auxiliary. She was always so upbeat and effervescent about her involvement with the post. She seemed to take great pride in her work with the post and the various contests she helped organized.
If everyone around us would take as much pride in completing the tasks she felt important to us as being an American, I can't help but feel that the world --at least our little part of the world here in the Copper Country--couldn't help but be a better place if we had more people like Shirley in our midst. I think she was a special lady, a fun person to be around and someone we probably won't be able to replace for some time.
I wish you and your families piece during this difficult time and to remind you that there are many who were blessed with the chance to get Shirley as a person. She certainly was special to so many of us. I hope you find so comfort in that.
My prayers are with you and your families during this difficult time.
Chris Ford
