SHIRLEY M. GOLDEN's Obituary
SHIRLEY M. GOLDEN, 74, of L’Anse, passed away at Baraga County Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit Thursday, April 14, 2005 following a lengthy illness. She was born in L’Anse on September 1, 1930 daughter of the late Russell and Evelyn (Liberty) Loosemore. Shirley graduated from high school in 1976. She married Everett Golden in L’Anse on February 27, 1947. Shirley worked for the L’Anse Motel, Hilltop Motel and cleaned private residences. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, the Mother of Perpetual Help Circle of Sacred Heart Church, the church choir, a life member of the John C. Sands #3897 Ladies Auxiliary and helped with the Golden Eagles Drum and Bugle Corps. Shirley was a former member of the L’Anse Village Council. She enjoyed doing crafts, quilting and crocheting.
Mrs. Golden is survived by her loving husband, Everett; 3 children, Kathryn (Charles) Valitchka of Peshtigo, WI., James (Stephenie) Golden of Quinnesec, MI. and Deborah (Karl) Francis of Houghton, MI.; grandchildren, Roy, Bridget, Johanna, Marria, Jenny, David, and Charles; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ashley, Brandy, Tyler, Elizabeth, Timothy, and Karissa; step-grandchildren, Joe, Pat, Mike, Coty, James Jr., Anthony and Dustin; a brother, Gerald Loosemore of L’Anse and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Paul, an infant brother, Robert and a brother Douglas.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m Monday, April 18, 2005 from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father George Maki officiating. Interment took place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday, April 17, 2005 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. The John C. Sands #3897 Ladies Auxiliary conducted a memorial service Sunday evening at 6 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with arrangements
